    Design Resources, Inc.

Laney Riehn is a Compliance Specialist at Design Resources, Inc. (DRI), where she plays a key role in managing social and factory compliance. After earning a degree in Apparel Merchandising and Product Development from the University of Arkansas in 2016, Laney joined DRI in 2019 and transitioned to the compliance team in 2021.

As a licensee of Nike and a member of the Fair Labor Association (FLA), and a validated CTPAT member, DRI is held to numerous and sometimes conflicting compliance standards. Laney’s role has evolved to encompass vendor audits, supplier code of conduct enforcement (including Nike and FLA requirements), and ensuring adherence to various international regulations. In addition to auditing, part of her job includes product safety, traceability, sustainability, and social compliance. Laney enjoys collaborating with factories to solve challenges and maintain high standards in an ever-evolving compliance landscape.

    Victoria Whitaker, JD

    Compliance Specialist

    Design Resources, Inc.

While Victoria has only been at Design Resources for a little over a year, she has been in the compliance space since 2017. In 2018 Victoria moved from Columbia, Missouri here to the Kansas City area to pursue her Juris Doctorate from UMKC School of Law. Throughout law school, she gained valuable experience through internships on how complex the legal world can be. Some of the relevant classes Victoria took were in International Trade Law, Administrative Law, Antitrust and Fair Competition, and Applied Legal Research. With this, and time spent on the Jessup International Moot Court Competition, Victoria was able to graduate from law school in 2021 with the education and practical skills to help any business with their legal compliance.

Victoria has been able to follow her interest in international law through her job as a Compliance Specialist. She has had opportunities to lead large projects with her job such as C-TPAT compliance, OSHA Compliance, and legislation tracking for all countries involved in our business. Victoria received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Columbia College and is originally from a small town in northeast Missouri.
