      Export Compliance Consultant

LeahMarie Wren is an Export Compliance Consultant with Export Compliance Solutions (ECS). She has received the honorary title of Certified U.S. Export Compliance Officer (CUSECO) on two separate occasions – 2005 & 2021. In addition, LeahMarie holds a certificate as an Advanced Paralegal from Kansas State University and a bachelor’s degree in Marketing/Management from Park University.

LeahMarie has been involved in international business for over 25 years. She has held positions in several areas of international logistics, including international marketing, freight forwarding, duty drawback, and deep, hands-on involvement in export compliance. Her first experience in export compliance was as the International Compliance Manager for a company that was in the middle of a massive Voluntary Disclosure to the DOC/BIS. It was in this position that she classified and grasped a good understanding of export licensing for the first time. She has been known to remark that “It was LOVE at first classification!”

Her passion for export compliance continues to grow due to changes in the various government regulations, the world’s ever-changing economic and political structure, and technological advancements.

Her primary focus as an Export Compliance Consultant with ECS is to create a customized, balanced Export Compliance Program (ECP) for US and foreign companies. She has assisted a wide variety of exporters (and re-exporters) with their compliance needs – from basic U.S. EAR/ITAR compliance programs to the more complex multi-national companies with licensing requirements from more than one US gov’t agency and/or more than one country’s regulations. Items and technology that she has worked with include firearms, ammunition, night vision, thermal imagers, vaccines, filtration equipment and aircraft servicing equipment, medical testing equipment and nanotechnology.

LeahMarie is involved with several international business organizations, speaks as an expert at conferences and educational events and is a published author on export compliance issues.
